JOB PURPOSE

Shift planning & drive the operation activities & operate all the units during the shift in a optimal way to ensure power generation meets the export schedule in a safe manner.

Execution & Monitoring :

 

  • Keep track of the systems and equipment status with respect to healthiness, limitations and availability and decide load distribution among units based on real time capabilities.
  • Analyze process deviations and respond to emergency situations by instructing and guiding desk engineers and field engineers to normalize the process in minimum time and loss of generation.
  • Analyze process problems and suggest remedies.
  • Follow up defects with Maintenance department for getting it rectified. Assist HoD and Co-ordinate with maintenance department for Work scheduling to minimize equipment non availability.
  • Real time Co-ordination with SLDC and BD for real time compliance with load dispatch instructions and optimum generation vs export schedule.
  • Preside over and macro control of unit startup and shutdown as per unit schedule requirements.
  • Ensure all the protections and interlocks of equipment’s are in service and co-ordinate with other departments in changes when reqd and normalizing promptly for keeping the healthiness of those on record.

Safety & Emergency control:

  • Co-ordinate with other dept’s for facilitating and assistance in carrying out routine tests and checks.mainatain safe working conditions and good housekeeping.
  • In charge of the plant premises during off-general hours to keep track of all systems including safety and security aspects. Will be Incident controller during emergency during non-office hours until assigned controllers, as per site emergency plan arrive and take-over.

Team Management:

  • On the job follow up, guiding and training of group members to improve the competency and reduce process deviations and forced outages.
  • Plan & control leave for the team members. Plan and Manage the shift outsourced manpower.

Repots/Data generation:

  • Enter data, prepare and check daily generation reports. 
  • Prepare First information reports on incidents, outages.
  • Data generated.

Grid authorities—SLDC,ERLDC for real time co-ordination of schedule and switching activities

Outsourced manpower supervisor and manpower in shift

CHP/AHP/WTP- for process inputs –real time co-ordination.

Maintenance dept- For PTW , defects reporting and rectification follow up,housekeeping etc.

Fire,safety and security—for safety systems healthiness/readiness and security status.

FINANCIAL DIMENSIONS

  • Station PLF, APC, heat rate etc which affect UI revenues and generation cost.

OTHER DIMENSIONS

  • 16 employees and 15 outsourced manpower during shift
  • Operation of whole plant including BoP(CW,FOPH,FWPH etc), 400Kv switchyard, 4 number of BTG

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • BE/B.tech  in  Mech/elec/power engg,

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • 08-12yrs exp in case of B.E or 12-15 yrs in case of Diploma education.
  • Hands on operation experience in pulverized coal fired unit of min 100mw single unit capacity
