JOB PURPOSE

The Legal role in the Real Estate business is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing contracts, managing litigation, and providing legal guidance to safeguard the company’s interests. This position involves close coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders to mitigate legal risks and support business objectives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsibilities

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Draft and review legal documents, agreements, and contracts. Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.

Manage regulatory compliance for real estate projects. Monitor changes in laws and update internal policies.

Handle litigation and dispute resolution. Coordinate with external legal counsel for timely case management.

Provide legal advice to internal teams on project-related matters. Support risk mitigation strategies.

Maintain accurate legal records and documentation. Ensure timely filing and retrieval of documents.

Zero errors in legal documentation and contracts.

 

100% compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Timely resolution of disputes and litigation cases.

 

Proactive legal support to reduce project delays.

 

Accuracy and completeness of legal records maintained.

EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS

Regulatory Authorities: Liaise for approvals and compliance.

External Legal Counsel: Manage litigation and specialized legal matters.

Government Departments: Ensure adherence to real estate laws and regulations.

Project Team: Ensure legal compliance for project approvals.

Finance Team: Coordinate on statutory payments and tax compliance.

Management: Advise on legal risks and strategic decisions.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

LLB or equivalent law degree; additional certifications in real estate law preferred.

 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

12-15 years of experience in legal roles within real estate or infrastructure sectors.

Proficiency in legal research and documentation tools.

Excellent negotiation and advisory skills.
