Manager - Direct Taxation

This position manages and deliver direct tax processes including but not limited to TDS, Tax filing, Tax-related report preparation, supporting tax legal disputes, internal and external audits & compliance tracking. Would also responsible for providing strategic inputs, review of assessment replies and coordinate with Business teams.



Accountable for maintaining SLAs for all Tax Compliances & CoE processes for the group
Assisting the DT Head in providing tax advises to Business and Group as and when required.
Manage the Direct taxation compliance related to corporate sector entities
Review of quarterly withholding tax returns and Income Tax Return for the group
Review of draft replies shared by business teams in relation to assessment/reassessment proceedings.
Monitoring Advance tax, monthly provision of Income Tax etc.,
Review of appeal papers, written submissions and arguments to be filed before the appellate authorities
Review taxation publications, decisions & rulings, new and proposed legislation and tax reform measures and assesses application and implications on the group. 


Assisting the DT Head in:

Ensuring all direct tax compliances on monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual basis are on-time and without any delay
Assessing actual performance against standards to determine whether the team is on target to reach goals and takes corrective actions, as necessary
Setting KPIs/SLA’s targets and define the roadmap for the team to achieve
Ensuring error-resolution is performed to high standards, within reasonable timeframes, and with the end-user satisfaction in mind
Educating and increase the Tax team’s awareness of the governance and control procedures and processes, ensuring total adherence
Working closely with Business, Statutory Auditors, Internal Auditors, Tax Consultants, and any such external / third parties for Audit and compliance purpose
Defining /strengthening processes to ensure better controls in processes
Process Improvements

Assisting DT Head in identifying areas of improvement within processes
Ensure that all new knowledge / improvements are documented and added to SOPs and / or the knowledge management database.
Change requests/initiatives logged by the team
Improvement of accuracy 
SOP updates on KM Portal
People Management

Manage the team directly working under the role.
Provide regular, constructive feedback to maximize positive impact of individual team member’s talent
Ability to teach and coach team members.

Assist the Finance Operations-Lead in all initiatives
Assisting DT Head in providing data for all ad-hoc reporting’s

Support in legal clarifications required and maintain the response time
Tax Department

Appearance before the Tax Authorities from time to time.


Stake holders/ Business User Team

1nd level of escalation point for stakeholders/Business users

Overall accountable for all tax related queries raised by Internal/external stakeholders
Internal SSC/Business Team

Reach out to SSC/Business team members for quick resolution of open issues & escalations

Discussions with IT for implementation of updates and changes in Taxation in SAP/ERP tools

Provide responses to queries raised by to internal/external stakeholders
