JOB PURPOSE

As GM Safety, you will be the senior leader responsible for shaping and driving the safety culture across the organization. You will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive safety strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a proactive safety environment. This role requires strategic thinking, leadership, and a deep understanding of safety management in high-risk industries

Strategic Safety Leadership
•    Co-develop and execute the organization's safety vision and long-term strategy
•    Lead the safety department and provide strategic direction to safety managers and officers
•    Represent the company in external safety forums and regulatory meetings

Employee and team satisfaction scores related to leadership and strategic direction within the safety department.
•    Safety performance improvements driven by strategic initiatives and leadership.
•    Number of successful engagements and contributions in external safety forums and regulatory meetings
Regulatory Compliance and Audit
•    Drive implementation of prescribed safety systems viz., Dupont Safety System (DSS+) or British Safety Council (BSC), processes, standards, tools, and techniques
•    Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations (OSHA, ISO 45001, DGCA, ICAO)
•    Conduct high-level audits of aerodrome facilities and safety management systems
 
Percentage of safety systems, processes, and tools implemented across departments on schedule.
•    Percentage of compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations (OSHA, ISO 45001, DGCA, ICAO).
Risk Management
•    Identify enterprise-level risks and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies
•    Oversee incident investigations and ensure thorough root cause analysis
•    Prepare safety assessment project reports and hazard log books
•    Monitor safety performance metrics and drive continuous improvement
Number of enterprise-level risks identified and successfully mitigated with comprehensive strategies.
•    Percentage of incident investigations completed with thorough root cause analysis and corrective actions.
•    Timeliness and accuracy of safety assessment reports and hazard log books prepared.
Emergency Preparedness
•    Develop and maintain corporate-level emergency response plans
•    Ensure all sites are prepared for emergencies through regular drills and training
•    Certify safety compliances for occupational health and passenger safety
Percentage of corporate-level emergency response plans developed and maintained up to date.
•    Frequency and participation rate in emergency drills and training across all sites.
•    Percentage of sites certified for safety compliance in occupational health and passenger safety.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors in engineering degree (Electrical/ Mech/Civil/other) and specialization in Safety (preferred)
•    Hands-on exposure in Dupon Safety System (DSS+) or British Safety Council (BSC) Safety Management System, ISO 45001: OHSAS, Business Excellence Framework, etc implementation, preferred.
•    Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH Diploma, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, or equivalent.
•    Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program (from ACI & ICAO) preferred
•    Annex 14 & other ICAO Service & Design manuals preferred
•    Advance knowledge of Computers

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE


•    15 - 20 years’ experience in safety management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the Service / Aviation / Infrastructure industry.
•    Experience in ATC/Airside Operations/Airside Engineering, safety & OH Audit, Compliance, SMS implementation, OH surveillance & regulatory coordination, DSS+ or BSC safety management system implementation preferred. 
•    Skills: Strategic thinking, leadership, regulatory knowledge, risk management, and excellent communication.
