JOB PURPOSE
SPOC in for Thermal SBU and Centre of Excellence for litigations in the Energy Business. To be the point of contact for legal issues in Thermal SBU and ensure successful resolution of litigations and legal issues so that the progress of projects & functions of various departments are not jeopardized. To ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to apprise the Thermal projects of all regulatory requirements and compliances. Co-ordinate various functions in the operations and maintenance of Compliances Management portal for Energy Sector.

Managing various litigations in Thermal SBU before CERC, SERC, APTE, High Court & Supreme Court. Drafting & vetting of various agreements – EPC, JV, SPA, SHA & various Loan Agreements. Handling of International Commercial Arbitration relating to EPC before Arbitral Tribunal, High Court & Supreme Court. |
Matter decided in favour of GKEL resulting into recovery of money from the Discoms. To make strategy for handling the ICA successfully. Keeping in view the object of the Energy SVU. |
Take timely steps to hasten disposal of matters which affects Thermal SBU projects/incurs huge costs | Reduction of time cycle for critical litigations. |
Find solutions to reduce/mitigate the effect of litigations or other legal issues and to device effective strategies to manage/resolve litigations and legal issues. |
Providing opinions and taking pro-active steps from business exigency viewpoint for various legal issues. Encouraging out of Court settlements and taking pre-emptive steps for avoidance of litigation. |
Apprise the Senior Management on all legal issues that crop up and advice on the impact as well as solutions. |
Generation of regular MIS and Reports. |
Set up systems for monitoring and report on the status of compliances | IT automated Compliance monitoring system set up encompassing all functions in the Energy vertical. |

High stake litigations before CERC, SERC, APTEL & Supreme Court which includes International Commercial Arbitration before various Forums – Successful disposal of the cases in favour of Company resulting into recovery / saving of account.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
LLB or LLM from a reputed University
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Diverse Corporate Litigation experience spanning a period of about 12-15 years in Energy Sector before various Courts, CERC, SERC, APTEL, High Court & Supreme Court and handling of arbitration matters including International Commercial Arbitration.
- About 15 years’ experience as in house Counsel for Power, Infrastructure or similar Industries.
