JOB PURPOSE

The Operations Commander - Ops & Training, ARFF, leads Fire Station operations, ensuring runway safety and DGCA-CAR compliance. They implement emergency SOPs, ensure rapid response to aircraft emergencies, maintain equipment readiness, enforce safety and discipline, coordinate with other departments, and conduct staff training, all to safeguard passengers and infrastructure.

Vendor Management
  • Maintain the fire stations, ensure that the SLAs related to housekeeping and other works are followed meticulously.
 -% Completion of scheduled maintenance activities as per contract timelines
Equipment and Resource Management
  • Ensure the upkeep and serviceability of the appliance and equipment at fire stations.
  • Coordinate with different departments during airport emergencies for the effective rescue and firefighting.
 -Number of equipment failures or downtime incidents 
Emergency Response
  • Ensure timely response and protect the aircraft, passengers during aircraft emergencies.
 -Average response time to aircraft emergencies

Manpower Management
  • Ensure minimum manning, extinguishing media & appliances to meet the operational requirement.
  • Assurance of station discipline.
 -Adherence to station SOPs and protocols
Statutory Compliance
  • Execute the SOPs, DAEP & contingency plans for the Rescue & Firefighting related emergencies at the IGI Airport and immediate vicinity.
  • Well conversant with all ICAO recommendation & DGCA regulation issued from time to time related to airport rescue & firefighting.
  • Successfully implement the role of ARFF as per the airport emergency plan.
 -Number of regulatory non-compliance incidents
 -Number of deviations from SOPs during operations 

Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement

  • Ensure the safety of the staff as well as the appliances/equipment during airport emergencies.
  • Assist Head – Operations & Training to develop and review the tactical plans.
 -Number of safety incidents reported

 

EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS

  • CISF: For opening of gates during emergencies on priority
  • ATC: For communication during Airport emergencies.
  • Medical services: For quick response during emergencies and drills.
  • DFS: For coordination and assistance during Airport emergencies
  • Other stakeholders (GHA, Concessionaires, and Airlines etc.) 
  • For coordination and assistance during Airport emergencies.

INTERNAL INTERACTIONS

  • AOCC: For communicating all Airport related emergencies and daily ARFF status report.
  • Air Side Operations: Coordination during Airport emergencies for smooth movement of CFTs
  • Terminal Operations: Coordination during Emergencies in Terminals.
  • Landside Management: Traffic management during emergencies in city side.
  • Cargo Management: For smooth access for CFT during emergencies and providing MSDS of dangerous goods.
  • P&E: Providing UPS for fire stations, Lighting arrangement at emergency sites.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • BE/MI Fire or Graduate preferably with science from any recognized University
  • Senior Fire Officer Course (SFO) from any Aviation academy or equivalent Course (Divisional Fire Officer Course from NFSC Nagpur or any recognized institute) 

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 12 years’ experience out of which minimum 3 years in managerial level in an Airport handling around 300 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) per day
  • Experience of minimum 8 years as station in-charge of Category 7 Airport or 5 years’ experience as operations commander of Category 9 Airport
