JOB PURPOSE

The role of a firefighter at IGI Airport is fundamental for ensuring immediate and effective response to fire and life safety emergencies across terminals, buildings, and aircraft. By performing rescue operations, maintaining firefighting equipment, conducting patrols and inspections, and assisting in medical emergencies, the position plays a vital role in safeguarding passengers, staff, and airport infrastructure. The firefighter also contributes to operational readiness through regular maintenance tasks and supports compliance with fire safety protocols. This role directly aligns with the airport's mission of maintaining a safe, secure, and efficient operational environment.

Responsibilities

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Emergency Response & Rescue

  • Function as a firefighter in CFTs as per the ARFF manual.
  • Respond to fire emergencies in aircraft, terminals, and buildings, ensuring timely rescue of trapped individuals.
  • Guide passengers to safety during building-related emergencies.
  • Provide medical first aid during crises.
  • Zero % of deviation from SOP/manual
  • Number of successful rescues of trapped personnel
  • Number of successful medical first aid given.
  • Number of successful rescue v/s number of cases attended.

Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance

  • Maintain and ensure operational readiness of firefighting equipment.
  • Conduct regular upkeep, cleaning, and maintenance of firefighting appliances.
  • Perform hydraulic testing, painting, and refilling of fire extinguishers.
  • Drive and maintain light-weight utility and operational vehicles.
  • 100% Serviceability of equipment.
  • Zero % violation in airside rules & regulation and number of accident/incidents occurred during duty.
  • Number of hydraulic testing & painting and refilling done v/s number of duty performed

Inspection & Patrol

  • Patrol terminal and other airport buildings.
  • Periodically inspect and update checklists for first aid firefighting equipment and fixed fire protection/detection systems.
  • Zero observations during the inspection by the Crew commander/Ops commander
  • Zero % deviation from the scheduled inspection, Number of observations reported, and rectification made

EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS

  • CISF: For access to the airside area
  • Medical services: For extending medical assistance to occupants
  • Airlines / GHAs / other Govt. agencies: for required assistance during emergencies
  • Concessioners: Follow-up of progress on fire safety observations/ rectifications.

INTERNAL INTERACTIONS

  • TMT: Maintenance of fire appliances
  • Airside Operation: Airside familiarization, coordination during emergencies and normal operations.
  • AOCC: communication during emergency
  • DIAL Security: For security related issues
  • Terminal Operations: Assistance during emergencies / Breakdowns
  • P&E: All FDP related issue

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+2 preferably with science subjects.
  • Prefer Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) Driving License holder or LMV with 3 years driving license is mandatory.
  • Qualified in basic aviation firefighting.
  • Physically, medically, and mentally fit as per ARFF standards.
  • Clear vision 6/6 without glasses, no color blindness, and good night vision.
  • Basic computer knowledge (desired).
  • Good communication skills.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
