JOB PURPOSE

The AMI – Wildlife Hazard Management ensures the effective control and mitigation of wildlife risks to maintain airside safety and regulatory compliance at IGI Airport. This role oversees Implementation of bird/wildlife control / habitat measures in accordance with DGCA CAR and ICAO standards and ensures that deployment of mitigation measures as per WHM plan to mitigate bird/animal strike and ensure uninterrupted, safe and efficient Aircraft Operations at IGl airport in each shift.

Wildlife Hazard Control & Compliance

  • Implement bird and animal control measures in compliance with ICAO and DGCA regulations.
  • Ascertain the serviceability of bird scaring/ habitat/ equipments.
  • Monitor all wildlife activity in airside and suggest mitigation measures.
  • Carry out periodic AEMC survey.
  • Track Bird/Wildlife movement pattern, bird hotspots through bird/animal mapping data.
  • Identify critical bird species identification through bird mapping and bird strike data.
  • No. of observations closed
  • No. of non-compliance/ observations found during audits
  • No. of unserviceable equipment and time taken to rectify the same
  • No. of surveys carried out
  • No. of mitigation measures suggested to reduce Bird strike rate

WHM Operations & Risk Mitigation

  • Assist in data collection and incident analysis to assess wildlife risks and mitigation effectiveness.
  • Perform documentation, reporting, and compliance tracking for WHM initiatives.
  • Monitor and ensure the effectiveness of environmental modifications such as drainage maintenance, perimeter fencing integrity, and waste management.
  • Responsible for implementing all WHM measures in compliance to ICAO and DGCA CAR.
  • No. of non-compliance/ observations found during audits
  • No. of unserviceable equipment and time taken to rectify the same
  • No. of penalties-imposed
  • Deficiency in documentations Planned v/s actuals

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Monitor the Service Level Agreements (SLAs)) of Bird-scaring/ habitat /SOS activity and Fumigation & termite control at airside during shifts.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure seamless implementation of wildlife control measures.
  • Attend and act on recommendations from the Airfield Environment Management Committee (AEMC) meetings.
  • Monitor deviation from SLA and initiate necessary corrective actions

Team Development and Management

  • Daily briefing (Toolbox Talks) and educating bird scaring/wildlife staff during each shift.
  • Responsible for deployment of Bird-scaring/ SOS staff at IGI airport.
  • Train bird chaser staff regarding bird identification, documentation, bird mapping.
  • No. of Tool box talks and its effectiveness.
  • No. of observations in deployment

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation/BSc Biology subject like Zoology, Botany, Wildlife, Life Science, Natural Resource Management, etc.
  • Biology background candidate must compulsory have in depth knowledge and experience on wildlife management, avian biology, human-wildlife conflict, wildlife inventory management, etc.
  • Should be in possession of valid LMV License

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Aviation Industry / Ornithologist / Wildlife Management
