JOB PURPOSE

This role is essential for ensuring the operational readiness and effective deployment of Crash Fire Tenders (CFTs) and Turn Table Ladder (TTL) during emergencies at IGI Airport. By executing timely response to incidents/accident site, conducting fire suppression, rescue operations, and providing first aid, the position supports the airport’s core objective of ensuring safety and compliance with DGCA and DAEP guidelines. Additionally, the role involves maintaining critical firefighting equipment, managing ARFF inventory and administrative tasks, and contributing to team skill development.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Driving & Operational Response

  • Operate and drive CFT & TTL to incident sites within DGCA-mandated response time.
  • Position vehicles effectively, apply extinguishing agents, and conduct rescue operations.
  • Provide medical first aid during emergencies.
  • Zero % of deviation from the CFT operation manual.
  • Response Time Maintenance
  • Number of successful rescue v/s number of cases attended.

Equipment Maintenance & Readiness

  • Perform autonomous maintenance and operational testing of CFT/TTL.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of all equipment and ensure operational readiness.
  • Maintain ARFF assets and manage disposal per timelines.
  • 100% adherence to SOP
  • 100% Knowledge of Topography.
  • % of inspection & testing done v/s number of testing due
  • Least Number of breakdowns due to failure of Maintenance.

ARFF Store & Inventory Management

  • Function as ARFF store in-charge; manage stocks of extinguishing media, firefighting equipment, logistics, and office stationery.
  • Track requirements, update inventory, and coordinate with Head – Ops & Training.
  • Variations in stock observed

Administrative & Team Support

  • Handle clerical duties including mail, messages, files, meeting schedules, minutes, and calendar management for Head – ARFF.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of ARFF office equipment.
  • Develop firefighters into lead roles and prepare to function as Crew Commander when needed.

  • CISF: For access to the airside area
  • Medical services: For extending medical assistance to occupants
  • Airlines / GHAs / other Govt. agencies: for required assistance during emergencies

  • TMT: Maintenance of fire appliances
  • Airside Operations: Airside familiarization, coordination during emergencies and normal operations.
  • AOCC: communication during emergency
  • DIAL Security: For security related issues
  • Terminal Operations: Assistance during emergencies / Breakdowns
  • P&E: All FDP related issue

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+2 with preferably with science.
  • Possess Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) Driving License
  • Qualified in medical first aid
  • Authorized to drive CFT & TTL
  • Good communication skill.
  • Basic computer knowledge in MS Office.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as firefighter.
  • Proficiency in driving and operation of crash fire tenders & TTL (preferred) including other specialized vehicles of ARFF
