JOB PURPOSE

The role involves planning and executing audits, inspections, safety investigations, and hazard reporting processes in coordination with stakeholders and service providers. The incumbent is expected to enforce regulatory compliance, develop and deliver safety training, promote a positive safety culture, and support operational risk management through structured data analysis and reporting. The Manager – Safety will also be responsible for maintaining key safety documentation, facilitating safety meetings, and preparing Management Information System (MIS) reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a defined frequency.

Airside Audits & Inspections

  • Schedule and execute airside safety audits / inspections for GHAs, catering, fueling agencies, FBOs, and MROs in accordance with Aerodrome Advisory Circular AD AC 02/2019 (Turnaround Checks).
  • Conduct and document Breath Analyzer Tests, competency checks, and adherence to fueling safety procedures in line with DGCA CAR requirements.
  • Perform worksite safety inspection to check adherence to the safety norms, applicable safety regulations, operational procedures, and safeguarding measures by the contractors and their workers.
  • Carry out monthly audits of towable ground support equipment (GSE) to assess functionality, maintenance status, and operational safety.
  • Conduct airside inspection including the facilities, infrastructure, services, etc. as per schedule.

Voluntary Safety Hazards Management

  • Collect, acknowledge, and log voluntary safety hazard reports submitted by stakeholders and operational personnel.
  • Track each report to closure in coordination with relevant functions, ensuring CAPA (Corrective & Preventive Actions) are implemented.
  • Support in initiating appropriate R&R (Reward & Recognition) for proactive and impactful safety reporting.

Airside Works Management

  • Support / Review submitted work methodologies, risk assessments, and safety plans for airside construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Verify compliance with safety procedures, mandatory PPE usage, and safeguarding requirements for work permit issuance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address safety training needs for personnel involved in airside works.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to ensure work area safety and adherence to the work permit conditions.

Airside Safety Trainings & Promotions

  • Support the Safety Specialist in conducting risk-based safety training for stakeholders, as identified through hazard analysis, risk assessments, and Management of Change.
  • Conducting Basic Airside Safety training for the contractual staff working in airside including staff from the stakeholders like airlines, GHAs, fueling, catering, FBOs / MROs etc.
  • Assist in planning and executing bi-annual week-long Airside Safety Campaigns involving all airside stakeholders through safety briefings, onsite inspections, skits program, posters, and interactive sessions, R&R to strengthen safety culture.

Safety Meetings & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Assist the Safety Specialist in conducting bi-monthly Airside Safety Committee (Safety Action Group) meetings and support in logistics, data preparation, and follow-ups.
  • Collate and present safety performance trends, audit findings, training updates, and hazard report status.
  • Maintain meeting documentation, update action trackers, and follow through on closure of agreed action points with respective stakeholders.

Safety MIS & KPI Reporting

  • Prepare, update, and maintain comprehensive Safety MIS and KPIs dashboards as per defined reporting frequencies – daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.
  • Support in preparation of regulatory reports and internal management reviews, ensuring consistency and completeness of safety data.
  • Contribute to automation and enhancement of reporting formats for improved visualization, trend analysis, and decision support.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation (Preferably B.E. / B. Tech.)

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in aviation, with a minimum of 3 years in airside operations, safety, or planning.
